Crucial Ballistix Sport review

In terms of price and value for money, the Ballistix Sport LT Red 4GB is a component, especially seeing as though a lot of other DDR4 memory is more expensive.

Assembled in the United States, this memory stick looks the real deal. It has a metallic red exterior that will look awesome in anyone’s gaming rig. It looks like the sort of memory a member of the Avengers or Justice League would have inside their computer – a movie and comic book reference in case you didn’t get that. Basically, what I am trying to say is, if you are someone that loves to build ‘flashy’ computers, with LED lights and colourful casing, then the Crucial Ballistix Sport will be right up your street.

More importantly, though, the Ballistix Sport LT Red 4GB comes with a limited lifetime warranty from Crucial that has been tested thoroughly to ensure the highest possible level of quality.

With Crucial, you know are getting affordable memory that is of a top-notch standard. They have been making PC memory for many years now, way before DDR2, so these guys are someone you can trust. Installing this memory is also very easy-to-do too; simply click in and you’re ready to go.

The Ballistix Sport LT Red 4GB has a maximum speed of 2400MHz – this means that this is a fast piece of kit. It has a form factor of UDIMM (useful to know in regards to motherboard compatibility). In regards to the power input, this is quite low, compared to other DDR4 modules, with an input voltage of 1.2V.

In performance tests, Ballistix Sport LT Red 4GB did not favour too well against other DDR4 modules in terms of latency (the delay before a transfer of data begins following an instruction for its transfer). The latency speed for Crucial Ballistix Sport LT Red 4GB is 79ns, which is roughly 50ns slower than it’s competitors.

Read data speeds are slightly better in comparison, with the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT Red 4GB reaching speeds of 13.9 GB per second. In terms of other DDR memory on the marketplace, this is a relatively low speed, especially against some of the Corsair modules, however, it certainly is not the slowest. However, in terms of the write transfer speed, it does not fare overly well compared to some other competitors on the market. The write speed is 7.9GB/s; whilst this is not slow, there is faster memory on the market, however at a higher price.

So, to conclude, whilst the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT Red 4GB is not the fastest performing DDR4 memory on the market, it certainly isn’t the slowest, with a speed of 2400MHz. In terms of price/performance ratio as well as appearance, the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT Red 4GB is perfect for anyone that wants a memory component that won’t break the bank. The build quality is of a high standard that uses cutting-edge technology, Intel® XMP 2.0 profiles and an integrated heat-spreader that helps to keep your system cool whilst gaming or using high-performance applications.

I always rely on VGEN for my memory. With $34.99 for 4GB RAM, I still think this memory card is too expensive. But again, maybe my need is not up to this class yet.

I’m thinking about upgrading my 12″ MacBook Air, what kind of memory that it can have to make it even faster?

Possibly, but, it could also be a number of other factors. Check this article on increasing now, to make your PC run faster!

I love the name of this piece of equipment! Having had my computer for a year or two now its starting to slow down a bit, not drastically, but to the point were its noticeably annoying. The price seems reasonable on this, however as someone who isnt tech savvy do you have any recommendations or articles on how to install it yourself?
